What does MGO grading mean?
You will see a MGO number on the front of all of our jars of Mānuka. This number represents the amount of ‘methylglyoxal’ per mg in every kg of Mānuka honey. So our MGO 83+ has at least 83mg/kg of methylglyoxal.
Why is this important?
MGO is the natural chemical component in Mānuka honey that has been attributed to the antibacterial benefits of our beautifully unique NZ honey. Our standard grades of honey we have on offer are MGO 83+, MGO 515+, MGO 829+ & MGO 1100+. The higher the number, the more MGO naturally occurring in the honey and the higher the strength of the honey.
